In a disruptive development that has mental health experts buzzing, local woman Jean Smith reported Thursday that she stopped a life-long battle of overthinking after her friend firmly told her to “stop.”

“It’s a miracle,” said Smith, describing the moment when her friend interrupted an intrusive thought spiral with a single word. “My brain obeyed, and suddenly, space opened up in my mind. I’m free!”

Smith’s friend, previously reluctant to make plans with her due to her energy-draining analysis of everything from menu options to life choices, is thrilled. “She’s finally tolerable,” said the friend whose now-famous “stop” command has stunned the local community.

While experts remain skeptical, Smith insists that no further evidence is necessary. “It’s not something I really want to think about,” said Smith.

At press time, Smith stopped seeing a therapist, canceled her mindfulness subscription, and announced plans to launch her podcast You Could Stop Overthinking Too If You Really Wanted To. She did admit to agonizing over the title.
