Nearly a year after the debate that rocked the internet, Donna Smith announced her wedding to the bear she chose over a man. “Bears are simple, predictable, and gone for the winter and these are all things human men can’t seem to manage,” said Smith.
Her mother, Tina Smith, remains skeptical: “She met him taking out the trash. I think he’s a bum.” Her father, Clayton Smith, is just excited for a new hunting buddy.
“People have a lot of opinions about interspecies partnerships, but at the end of the day it was the logical, safer option,” said Smith, who considers herself a matrimonial trailblazer.
The couple is currently co-authoring a memoir titled Bearing It All: My Marriage in the Woods.
